The dealers were instructed to inspect and replace the control arms, free of charge. This affects the vehicle's handling and steering, while also increasing the risk of a crash. An improperly welded joint in one or both of the front lower control arms may break and result in partial separation of the control arm from the vehicle. The recall consisted of 93,722 Chevrolet Trax vehicles manufactured from 2015 to 2018 model years. The latest recall for the Trax was on September 12, 2019, by General Motors LLC. Another thing to note here is that the 2015 and the 2016 model years share the same recalls, like how it is with the 2017 and the 2018 model years. The crossover carries 9 recalls in this generation, with the 2015 model year being the flagbearer with 7 recalls. The Chevrolet Trax has a clean record and is not recalled for the past three model years. The issue has popped up for new cars with very low mileage on the odometer. Suspension issues: Some owners have reported the strut mounts to wear off and cause grinding noise while turning the car.People have also reported the steering to get stuck while the car is moving. Steering issues: The steering on the 2019 Trax is reported to get jammed and stuck when the car is sitting for too long in cold temperatures.This has left people stranded often and has also resulted in damaged transmission. This causes distraction and does not show important information to the driver.
